A special place within the range of security technologies is occupied by Orlov printing method invented by Ivan I. Orlov in 1891. Its essence is that a multi-color image is printed from one printing plate using intermediate ink chablons with a design for each color of the original. Every chablon ink design transfers its ink image to the combined shaft and after that to the combined plate on which the design of the whole original is located. It allows transferring a multi-color image to the sheet at one pass without any misalignments or breakups. The accuracy of ink match is best observed at the junctions of lines transferring from one colour to the other.
