| A very big gold coin will be issued in honor of Goznak |
Towards the 190th anniversary of Goznak the Bank of Russia will put into circulation two commemorative coins dedicated to the jubilee. Moreover, for the first time in Russia, a 3-kilogram gold coin will be among them.
The issue of the “Goznak” coins is planned for the second half of the year. These are a 25-ruble silver coin with a gold insert and a gold coin with the face-value of 25 thousand rubles. And due to the fact that all the Russian commemorative coins are struck at Goznak, “its” jubilee coins will be manufactured by Goznak as well. 3-kilogram gold coins have not been minted in Russia before – only 3-kilogram silver coins were produced (the first one appeared in 1999 and was dedicated to Goznak as well – in honor of the 275th anniversary of the Saint-Petersburg Mint). Now the Saint-Petersburg Mint is getting ready to produce the first 3-kilogram gold coin. The production engineers are to work out the process of minting pure gold (999 standard) on the big coin diameter (130 mm).
Besides, the other 25-ruble coin will also be complicated. It is planned to make a blind gold insert located asymmetrically.
